A home for a couple to spend their retirement years entertaining family and friends and having play dates and sleep overs with their grandchildren. Located on a north facing slope on the western periphery of Johannesburg, close enough to revisit old stomping grounds, but far enough to avoid the noise and intensity of the rat race. We worked closely with this couple to create the home of their dreams. Designed to maximise passive cross-ventilation and natural light, a cool palette of natural materials and layers of textures, the home can adapt effortlessly from a mood fit for a party to peaceful hibernation.
